- Connecting customers to the transport network (wired network access to the internet)
- Connecting phone exchanges and connecting computer networks using the existing wire pairs
Main roles of the KEYMILE platform are acceptance of different signals using any of the actual interfaces, cross-connect capability of 64 Kbit/s up to 155 Mbit/s, multiplexing and transport. Copper wires and optical fibers are available for transport usage, employing the PDH, SDH and xDSL technologies.
Employing the existing infrastructure, this platform provides building-up flexible, manageable and multi-service telecommunication access network. It can be used for analog, digital and ISDN phone networks and different types of data service transmission. This platform is very easy and efficient to modify and develop and can be accommodated to any network topology. Other providers’ equipment usage in the network is possible, with standard interfaces.
KEYMILE platform provides certain functions in domain of access network
- Conversion of analog channels and signalization into the standard digital formats
- Multiplexing of tributary channels into the aggregated ones
- Ccross-connection of any of the tributary and aggregated channels
- Transport of aggregated channels using the optical fibers (4x2Mbit/s) and copper exchange lines
- Tributary interfaces for phone lines, leased analog channels, ISDN BRI and PRI signals, digital interfaces for transportation of the signal on the first layer of OSI (physical layer)
- Digital interfaces for data transmission over the existing copper cables and separate devices for access at the customer premises
- Digital aggregated interfaces on 2 Mbit/s and 8 Mbit/s levels, available for access to the switching equipment and transmission system equipment
